Hi building an internal supporting blockwork column 1.5 or 600mm wide and 3 m high via 2 f-type lintels. Problem is column ties onto a perpendicular internal granite stone wall. The wall is not straight and plumb shows 15mm difference top to bottom. Plan require wall starter strip but even with a morter skim its going to be wavy. Do I use it and cut the tied blocks to maintain plumb at the outer 600mm edge. Help appreciated

15mm in 3000mm is nothing, and you would build the pier plumb, maintaining even joints and block sizes, and just point up the wider joint between the existing wall.

Wall starter strips are not the correct item to tie a supporting pier, but if that's what had been specified, then it's not your problem.

Thanks woody thats great. Wall starter strip on passed warrant plans. Be interested what should tie the blocks to the stone wall. Specs on wall starter strip clearly intended for nice straight brickwork. Guess technician's never built a wall.!

I suppose the only sensible (structural) way to tie in would be to remove a portion of the granite masonry so that the bock-work can return into the fabric of the granite walls. Butting them like this means there is little transference of load to the adjacent walls.
Perhaps the pillar is doing all the work in isolation?
