Building Control inspections

Should I try to schedule/organise my work so that lots of things are ready for inspection at once - e.g. first fix wiring, new double glazed windows - in order to pay less inspection fees, or doesn't in work like that?

I believe you pay a one off fee which covers all inspections.

Fee depends on size of extension.

Building control will give you an inspection schedule when you lodge your application.
This will set out what needs inspecting and the notice periods they require. You don't need to worry about clustering things together, if you're lucky you'll get a good inspector who will let you get on with it and make judgements on elements he can't see based on the quality of others. Either way, just stick to the notice periods on the schedule or improve where possible and everything will be a breeze.

I always phone the b C O, and tell him what i want inspected, they can tell you if they are prepared to come out, i've never been turned down yet, generally very helpful
