Hi,

Currently our small semi detached house had been extended to the side around 50% of the original size of the house.

Permitted development states it's okay to extend half the size of the original house. If I want to extend more to the side, would that mean I have to apply for planning permission, as pd doesn't cover more then 50%?

Appoligies if this is a silly question, as I'm not too familiar with planning permission.

Any advise/help on this would be great.
Thanks

is the extension or any part added pre 1947 if so its classified as part off the house

this thread is helpful thanks, we are thinking of buying a bungalow in mid Dorset, but might need to extend to create a new living room. an average size 2 bed is about 54sq mtrs, At a rough guess the ex would come out to about 32sq mtrs, would that need planning? then if at a later date we wanted a conservatory, would I need to apply again?
Thanks

I'd start a new thread if I were you. Permitted development allows you to build extensions of certain dimensions off of certain walls of your house. The area of the house isn't really important.
