Greetings!

I have about 100 yards of track that is a bit slippy (at the moment) for a wagon to drive over it. As I need a wagon in there soon, I want to lay down some kind of hard core on top of the surface that will stop the wagon and trailer slipping. BTW the ground is nearly level (so no hill)

What kind of gravel can I get away with (cost wise!) And how much will I need and where can I buy it from, and who will deliver it?

Thanks

Get a lorry load of crushed concrete. I think 20 ton is the biggest but see what's available.
Buy it from local gravel yard.
They will drop piles along track and you spread out by hand.
If you don't want to do it get ground local ground workers.

Any type one gravel will do but crushed concrete is cheapest.

What is the aim? What kind of wagon: transit' 40 foot artic? What's the ground like? How straight is the run (width required?)

For any sort of ongoing access you need to be thinking about digging out topsoil at least, Terram then 150 or so of crush.

Even for a one off less than 50 is really going to do nothing very much, so we're looking ball park say 100m x 3m x .05m so 15cube solid, so 2 20 tonne loads (and upwards)

You don't need type 1 graded material for this: straight crushed concrete will be fine but you may find crushed hardcore available and likely to be cheaper still. Road planings are another possible.

Talk to demolition companies: they often crush on site and have material available at all kinds of different locations. Local farmers often know sources of cheap material as they're often doing tracks and standings.
