We have quite an old oil burner installed in the garage (with a flat roof) I'm not sure of the surface it is like a felt surface with a silver cover. the flue vents got shut somehow and the area aound the flue has burnt away about an inch all round. (I know it could have been alot worse) The problem is if it rains the water now comes into the garage and i'm not sure how to go about repairing it. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. I'm guessing the heat factor is the biggest problem.

Try this. Some of them can go up to 220C temperature .You could screw the flashing onto the flat roof deck then use a hot bitumen blowtorch type to seal it.

Thank you Masona it look like just the thing Not sure about the blowtorch bit, bit i'm sure i can find something else to seal it.
