Cable size for heating spur

Hi Guys im a heating installer, just a querie , what size cable do you need supplying a spur to feed a boiler,i was under the assumption that 1.5mm T & E is sufficient , just an electrician doin an inspection and testing and he has noted it needs to be 2.5mm.What is the crack with this one,any input apprecited .

The fuse is there to protect the cable.
If this is a spur from a ring final then the cable must be the same size as the ring (usually 2.5mm²).

The spur will terminate in a fused spur and this will have a fuse as recommended by the boiler/programmer manufacturer. Usually 3amp. If its 3 amp then the cable that goes from the fused spur to the boiler/wiring can be as small as 1mm².
 
It depends what circuit the spur is taken from, but assuming it's fed from socket circuit then 2.5mm² would be the normal size to use.
