Looking to get some automated lighting such as the home easy brand from b&q. These would have a ceiling module to go in place of a junction box, and a wireless light switch that runs off batteries.
Since the switch has no mains voltage/current, can it be installed in bathroom (where a normal switch isn't allowed)?

Sure it can. But there's nothing to stop you installing a regular light switch in a bathroom.

Subject to conformance to wiring and building regulations.

Have you thought of fitting a waterproof plastic cased IP65 outdoor type of PIR detector switch in the bathrooms?

No need for batteries then, the switch can be ceiling mounted, and the light is only turned on when the bathroom is actually being used.

And the lights will go off if you're laid still in the bath or behind the shower screen

Many ceiling mounted 360 degree sensors are very sensitive. Sitting still shouldnt be a problem for them.

IP44 will be more than adequate.
I agree with RF though. They work fine in gents urinals but not if you're going to have a long bath or read the paper sitting on the potty!

And you'll get annoyed when the lights come on at full blast when you go for a wee in the middle of the night
