Can I cover the downlights in the loft?

In the photo attached you will see my loft space covered in about 12" thick insulation with a couple of holes cut into it where the downlights are in the bathroom. The question is can I put another layer of insulation over these holes to stop the cold air from the loft seeping down through the downlights?

led bulbs run cooler than halogens....can they be covered with loft insulation?

It depends on the downlight and the lamp. Although LED lamps are cooler, the electronics still need room to breathe

Some can be covered, some need a manufacturer's specified shield (eg Aurora M10s) cannot be covered.
