Because of the way that heating pipes are hidden in my house, and the fact that the boiler is in the loft, it will be difficult to fit a Magnaclean to 22mm pipes.

The only really practical and convenient place to fit it is to the 15mm pipes inside the pantry, that run to the kitchen rad.

If I use some 15/22mm reducers, and a small bit of 22mm pipe, can I fit the Magnaclean to the pipes where they run down the pantry wall?

Absolutley,

Can you not get into the loft and have a look at the 22mm pipework up there?

The boiler in the loft is very low to floor, so no room to fit on pipes below it.

The 22mm pipes in loft are all clipped along the floor, so no vertical sections to attach m/clean to. Reason for not wanting it on loft floor is accessability for emptying, may get damaged when moving stuff in loft. Also, how would I stop the M/clean from freezing in loft?

So it would work OK on 15mm feeds to the kitchen rad?

I would guess that boiler has not been fitted with the correct service and repair clearances otherwise i would have thought there would be enough distance below.

You need it to be on the 22 return to the boiler otherwise dont bother!

Ok, so cleaning and frost wise its not ideal. So can I fit the M/clean on the horizonal 22mm return pipe in loft, just before it enters boiler? Can Magnacleans be fitted on horizontal pipe?

You can fit a magnaclean to pipes be they vertical or horizontal. The boiler may need a frost stat to prevent it freezing and splitting the heat exchacher like the one I have been to today in Lancashire.

There is nothing to prevent you altering the pipe work to lift the Magnaclean a few inches to creat clearance.

ps didnt see Barryauids post till I had typed the above.
