I want to knock down a wall in my flat to extend a single bedroom into a small narrow cupboard.

I live on the ground floor in a small block of flats (five stories) with ten flats in total, two per floor. It seems though that at some point in the past the original internal design has been changed as walls have been added (or removed). I think it used to be a large one bed flat rather than a two bed.

I have already removed a cupboard which was built in the hallway using breeze blocks. The flat opposite me already has the mentioned wall removed with no sign of extra supports.

So can I just go ahead and do the same?

Many thanks in advance

As its a communal building you would have to get the experts in to look at this. Just because the flat next door has done something doesn't mean its ok for you to do the same. Each flat may be laid out in a similar fashion but with slight differences. I think you would need to look at the original architects plans and have it confirmed by a structural engineer before you do anything.

This removal would not affect just you, there are other people to consider.
