We are turning our dormer into a bathroom upstairs. We don't really want to remove the window in the dormer, but of course it would be ideal to put the shower up against that wall, can we build a false wall over the window (so it would look 'normal' from the outside) and place the tub/shower surround against the false wall? Thanks

heeelllooo and welcome bunnymama :D :D :D

this is a british forum
we have to comply with ventilation and fire escape regulations when we block off windows
providing you don't contravene any regulations there is tecnically no reason to stop you covering a window
although the lack off daylight may be a problem assuming no other windows

Just don't do what my neighbour did, and stuff a load of loft insulation against the glass before building the wall, without any concern of what it might look like from outside !
I'm sure you wouldn't :)

Now every time we look out of the kitchen window, we're staring at a bunch of dirty, untidy fibreglass insulation
