Can you get low life scum worse than this ?

of course the newspapers never report on the millions of people who work in the caring professions who actually do "care"

unfortunately, in a lot care home jobs, the only qualification required is a pulse......and that is why you get this sort of thing happening... :(

Of course an employer CAN chose to give a job to someone who's CRB check reveals an old conviction, especially if they think that it's not relevant to the job.

The question is WOULD they give them the job in favour of someone with a clean UK CRB, and risk the public and media hysteria whipped up by a tabloid headline of "Ex-con revealed working with vulnerable children!!!!!".

And how could they be sure that their liability insurers wouldn't then wash their hands of them in the event of any sort of claim?

Proper management is what is needed. A competent on-duty senior matron or whatever will know what is going on.

including 71 sex offences, 77 child sex offences - snip - The sex offences included four indecent assaults on children, 13 on adults, eight acts of gross indecency, 12 of indecent exposure and 19 involving prostitution

So basically a handful of convictions actually relevant to the CRB check, no indication how many of those offences are committed by how many people, and most importantly they would have been on the sex offenders list anyway for those offences.

And no evidence from you that levels of abuse have fallen since CRB checks were introduced.

Thanks for proving my point.
