Considering fitting a small balanced flue gas heater in the garage.

sectional concrete single garage built probably 30 or 40 years ago with typical asbestos corrigated roof (now gone)

Can you core through the thinner points on one of these pannels or is there steel in there as well? would probably need 4 or 5 inch for the balanced flue?

Plan B then, not being used as garage and the metal up and over door is nearly rotten away, so rather than replacing with wooden door, I reckon I'll breeze block up the garage door opening and flue through that, (side door is all I need, and it gives me a useable wall that can bear the weight of shelves or otherwise)

Could you not easily test for rebar with a stud detector or a magnet?

Sorry if I'm way off, but it was a thought

Never thought about it but I imagine so, the sectional pannels are inconcevably thin in the middle so a strong magnet would probably do the job.

May avoid it anyway tho as they are old panels and I was going to knock the lot of it down but simply dont have the funds to build another in the next few years, at the moment there is no roof on it and my gym stuff it out there getting rusty (just like me)

so reckon breeze block the garage door up and try do something with the roof is my best option for the time being. can fit a little 2nd hand balanced flued wall heater hooked up to an LPG bottle for next to nothing that wont cause silly amounts of condensation like a portable calor heater would,
