Cannot find external stop tap

Help.
I cannot find my external stop tap. I have dug a trench 10 meteres long by 200 mm deep in the location where I would expect to find it.
Spoke to my water supplier (United Utilities) who passed me on to an external contractor, who was of no help.
In a previous new property, United Utilities located the external stop tap by fixing a device to the main water suppoly, another device to the stop top under my sink, and then sending (I think) high frequency vibrations from the mains to the stop tap under the sink. They then used a device to locate my external stoptap. Does any one know who can do this for me?

you dont live in an old terrace do you!!!!!

they often have one stopcock serving more than 1 house
try turning your neibours stopcock off

apart from that ask your neibours either side where there stopcocks are and look in a line between them

and if this is what youve already done with your trench i appologise
