If a person has a non fault accident, but the third party denies involvement, and there are no witnesses or dash cam footage, is it up to the wronged driver to hunt around for possible CCTV footage, or does the insurance company have a duty to do it?

I think I know the answer, but thought I'd check.

They have no duty to assist gathering evidence to support your claim. Their duty is to pay out on your behalf. They don't even have a duty to chase the other party for reimbursement if they choose not to. If you find it and can present it, they will inform the other side of it, which may help them be unwilling to defend their insured's position.
