Anywhere you can get access to it afterwards - through the light hole.

There are maintenance-free ones but there is no point using one for this sort of thing.

Or don't use any.

Have you already got the swiss-cheese ceiling, or do you have time to reconsider the decision to try and light a room with lights which are designed to not do that?

Ideally configure the circuit so they are not required, this can be done at the switch and at the fittings. If this is impossible/impracticable, you really should make junctions so they can be accessed via the fittings holes. They need to be accessed for maintenance, inspection and testing.

There are MF (maintenance free) junction boxes, if under extreme circumstance were access is not going to be possible, can be used.

Ye Bas, twin 6ft florri that's the way to do it! And that's the bedroom!! single are we .........?

If the twin florri tubes are separately switched, the light level can be adjusted for those romantic occasions when you don't want the visitor to be able to see the bedsheets too closely.

Down lights are great. Unfortunately some people who don't like change can not accept that we are now in the 21st century and things have progressed from a 6" pendant in front of the window

Actually CEF do some nice Chrome T5 fittings, things have moved on since the Pop Pack mk1
The Pop pack pro dont look too bad either

Mm, i like the kettle element in a tupperware box light fittings one each side of the bed, with a lovely brass switch, rope edge of course ;)
