Why are you looking, not a criticism I'm trying to establish the problem.Hi please see attached drawing.
I have just undone the ceiling light and I have 2 neutral wires disconnected and nothing going to the live.
The lighting on the consumer unit is off.
Please advise how to correct/connect
Many thanks

Is it a few loops at the light and a pair to the switchWhy are you looking, not a criticism I'm trying to establish the problem.
What worked?
What other lights (including shaver socket, cooker hood etc) didn't work?
I'm assuming one goes into the L terminal and one into the N terminal. Something like this:View attachment 420654
But the difficulty is finding out which.
BUT I AM MAKING ASSUMPTIONS AND MAY BE VERY WRONG
Do you have any test kit?
If it's you're going to suggest things like that I'd say put one black in the L terminal, make the other black safe with a single terminal and then try the switch.Put your testers on earth and one of the blacks the one that goes on and off (230v to 0v) when you switch the switch is the L the other one will be the neutral.

If the switch operates the light then good you have found the switched live wire, if it doesn't - go round turning the others that don't work on/off, if that makes this light or others work then you have found the neutral wire.

I can’t swear that the person hasn’t messed with the wiring trying to sort themselves
