Changing bathroom into a shower room

Hi everyone. I'm taking the bath out and replacing it with a shower enclosure. This involves building a stud wall to hide shower pipework. Using a low profile shower tray, but not sure whether to place it directly on the wooden floor or with a riser kit. On th floor pipes etc wouldn't be readily accessible as would be along / under floor joists and a new Outlet through the wall. I read conflicting rules. To alter a bathroom into a shower room and alter drainage pipes and shower pipes, do I need to get building regs approval?

So long as you are not altering the room structurally you do not need any approval

Is the user infirm or disabled?

Is there room to get the pipe and waste under the floor?

ALWAYS strive to have the tray as low as possible and find a way with the waste. We've recently done one (sat it on the floor) for a pensioner, because the lazy plumber couldn't be arsed to do a bit extra work.

My wife is at the moment, she broke her shoulder falling out of the side of the bath hence the change to a shower, she's 76.
It's a downstairs wooden suspended floor so plenty room for pipework.

Not sure an under floor inspection hatch would work as the shower tray drain would be hidden behind at least one joist.

I would strive to have as low a tray as possible.

I have a Mira tray in the en-suite that is 45mm deep with maximum non slip properties and I appreciate not having to step up like I would in our other shower.
