Hi all

Where would i find the O2 oxygen sensor on my ford escort 1995?

My fuel has been dropping drastically in recent months. I'm having to spend like £30 on fuel for a 65 mile journey, to and from. Whereas before i was spending about £20 most. The car has done approx 120k miles and the o2 sensor has never been changed.

Its either on the exhaust down pipe or on the front end of the catalytic converter.....there are special sockets available to pass over the wires to get it out - and it could be very tight.
John :)

If your 02 sensor has failed you should have a dash waring light come on
I would have it checked out properly as 02 sensors are not cheap and it may not fix the issue anyway

Not strictly true pom001, not all cars throw a CEL if the O2 is faulty, especially a car that is 14yrs old. ;)
How did the emissions do on the last MOT??
I replaced 2 O2 sensors on a car 2yrs back with generic 4 wire ones that were half the price of Main Dealer and they are still going strong, mpg is up and no more sooty exhaust tip.
As Burnerman stated, the sensor will be in the DP or pre cat.
