It's been 5 months - maybe the OP can comment on adapters, if he used them?
I didn't use any adaptors, or indeed make much progress on the project.. So far I'll I've done is destruction and made a decision that any cables need to be routed/hidden by some other means. I'm going for a "floating lintel" and I'll route a slot in the back that signal cables shall be routed through.
