I had reason to visit my local high street chemist (who don't actually sell industrial footwear) today in an effort to purchase some first aid supplies.

I managed to find the bandages, but could not locate the vaseline for the endless rows and rows of potions and lotions they sell.

Does anyone actually buy all that rubbish?

Surely taking all them potions can't do you any good. They had potions for all sorts of stuff I didn't even know I had

 says who?

The sister at the hospital.

The burns are a few days old now, and she advised applying vaseline to the affected areas to prevent the skin drying out and cracking, which could lead to infection...

OK, no prob. Keeps it supple and reduces scarring. Burns consultant at Ipswich recommended purified Lanolin but it is much stickier and smells funny.

Not strictly "First" Aid though.

I hope your knees and elbows soon get better ;)

vaseline should not be ina first aid box / cabinet.

its for first aid, not two days later aid.

if people see it they may put it on a burn which is the worst thing to do

funnily enough there ae a whole list of things that should not be in a first aid box / cabinet.

Indeed ... The last thing you would put on a burn is any form of ointment and particularly vaseline during first aid.

Medicinal Rum

Bottle of Vodka to sterilise wounds.
