I'm looking for a chuck for my pillar drill; I'm unsure how to search for the exact one. Is there a site that explains how to measure chucks etc? All I know is the chuck is a B16 taper chuck and takes upto 16mm bits. The hole the key fits in is 8mm.

Any advice will be appreciated.

why not go to the website of who sold you ther drill or the maker of the drill? that way you should be able to look up the model you have

I've done that and have the model of the drill, size of chuck etc etc. I can order a key from them but thought I would try and buy locally. The first thing i'm asked is what size is the chuck and all I can tell them is that it's 16mm and B16 which relates to the taper size I believe. I though there must be a way of stipulating spindle size, number of teeth etc. Jacobs chucks are labelled S2, S13 etc etc which relate to I know what not.
