cladding iron gate!

i plan to mount some wood on it!

was planning on mounting a bit of wood at the back and then rough sawn timber on the front ? was hoping to screw through it.

any advise and help please ?

Drill a clearance hole through the wood on the back, and choose your screw lengths carefully so they don't poke out through the front. If the rough sawn tries to bend, then you may need to pack with timber just slightly thinner than the gate steel.
Presumably you don't want to drill through the gate steel itself?

will the gatepost and hinges take the extra weight?
