Clearing blocked toilet

Can anyone offer any pro-tips for clearing a blocked toilet other than using 2 rods and a plunger attachment. I've cleared most toilets using this method but today I was defeated. Is jetting the only other answer (assuming no other rodding points)

Is the toilet upstairs or down? You might have a blocked manhole.

If the blockage is at the pan or close pipe work end, the Rothenberger Ropump is an excellent piece of kit (Screwfix 63775).
It may be hireable from somewhere.
I've used these before and had no sign of a backfire - which was advantageous.....

although by the looks of it, i'd have to get my hands submerged in **** in order to actually use that ropump!
