I'll be getting in an electrician soon to fit a new consumer unit, before I do 2 questions;

1. I've rewired a new upstairs ring but it's in the old colours, will Mr Spark be able to connect this to the cu (after he's checked the wiring of course)

2. The wiring to the kitchen is a radial, 10mm T+E to the 1st socket then 2.5 to the rest ( not my work you understand). Can I make it into a 2.5 ring or 4.0 radial without removing the 10 T+E? Inelegant perhaps but acceptable?

1)Not if you tell him 2) yes,as long as you use the correctly rated protective device.

With 10mm going into a socket I wish you the best of luck with:
a) getting another conductor into the terminal
and
b) being able to get the socket srewed into the back box.
