Combi Problem

Bengasman, I'm surprised that you're not, if your doing installations.

Not essential in Scotland, but is down south. Done my course & assement at Gaswise in York. You need my serial number?

Heh, and now you know someone who is Part P!

BTW where do you all get your names from? Do they come with a superhero outfit?

your 20/80 flowmatic is now getting on a bit but still can be a very good boiler.
these boilers really benefit from a specialist vokera engineer who can service it to the makers instructions.
although they are a very mechanical boiler they outlast many newer boilers.
correct water flow rate, gas pressures, thermostat and divertor valve working correctly will deliver a decent hot water flow rate.
more often than not the boiler is working correctly and the house water installation does not suit this boiler.

Gary. A name from the latin phrase: not sure if i'am, so i put an r in my name to cover it up. ;)

Wow, Gas2Air & bengasman, that's hysterical.

Now, I was taught by the Jesuits, and I'm sure I'd have remembered this in my Latin class...... ah, it's not Latin it's a pun. Like when you mess about with the letters in a name to get something 'funny'..... only trouble is your efforts not that funny, or clever.

What about if we put both your names together and do a bit of a shuffling about of the letters seeing as we've decided to play word games. How about you two lads pushing your names together and calling yourselves 'Gasarse I Bang Man'... or maybe that's way over your head bengasman. Mind you it is a bit cleverer than just dropping one letter out a word. Jesuit education, eh?

Another couple of clown that should have met my Grandmother.

Turbofan, thanks for the decent, professional advice. It's a much appreciated oasis in a sea of sarcastic clowns. You & DP seem like a couple of decent guys. Thankyou both for your advice.

A.M.D.G. Well Gary67. The lemon shape looks like a shock arrestor or mini expantion vessel that takes up sudden pressure shocks if the hot tap is closed fast, they are rarely fitted on boilers these days. I,m sure you can do what you bloody well want in your own house, its your life. I've worked as a gas service engineer for 30 years and consider civility a common courtesy and free.

I have a BAXI WM 381 RS boiler, and was wondering if this boiler would allow me to run a thermostatic shower off of it?

Thanks in advance.

Thats interesting that you have a Baxi as well as your Vokera!

Are you sure that you are telling the truth and the whole truth?

Saying that you are electrically qualified and carelessly damaging a boiler's PCB like that would make you a prime target for a Rogue Traders program!

Tony

A.M.D.G. Bertie, thanks for your reply. What can you say, it's installed in us.

Turnued out to be a dirty venturi.

You an ex Hill St man? Have my two up there just now.

Thanks for the help.

Gary. (A.M.D.G.)

it is an exspansion vessle for the hot water section an if the property has a stoptap or loosejumper type valve that will act as a non rtn valve on the incomeing water supply one should be fitted by the installer, its in the mi instructions ,but hold up your hands those who do and ill by the next round!!!!!!!!!(joke).

I'm not an installer but I fit retrofit lots on the new estates with water meters fitted

My old grandmother, God rest her, used to say, " If you haven't anything good, or constructive to say, don't say anything." Shame you never met her.

Sounds a very wise positive lady indeed. Many can learn for her.

Actually I feel that advising you not to play with something you obviously don't understand and has the potential to kill you is fairly constructive.

All he did was probably make sure a contact was making. A pcb should not blow if that circuit connected and disconnected. Seems something more serious was already afoot. I would replace the sensor too.

I think what is meant is that poking about in a gas fired boiler when you are not qualified is illegal and dangerous.

That's not just 'CORGI Club' mentality it is the law.

That is not the law. The law say you have to competent. Competence is judged by results not membership of a registration authority.

(Actually I believe the CORGI guys are probably breaking the law giving any advice at all other than 'get a suitably qualified technician to sort it out'.)

You believe wrong. :)
