well, my take on it is this, capitalism has an end game, whereby the very few end up with almost everything, we seem to be reaching this end game whereby something like 90% of all wealth is owned by 10% (or something like that, I haven't checked). We've been there before and history has shown us that this doesn't turn out well in the long run.
So what to do, well, I would suggest that a redistribution of wealth would be a good thing overall as the alternative is war or revolution (well that's whats happened in the past anyway) How that is done, I don't really know, not easy to persuade the rich and powerful to dilute their wealth.
There was an interesting article (it was in the DM actually

) running along the lines of why do we think we are in this mess? Is it because, we don't really make anything the world wants to buy, we don't grow / produce enough food to even satisfy domestic demand, we import energy and natural resources, we don't produce world class educated individuals (in the main) nor do we have a hard working motivated workforce. Viz, we ceased to be a world power a long time ago, and ever since have been borrowing money to maintain the illusion.
We cannot simply rely on services (valuable though they are) to keep the lights on, for starters there are many people who do not want to / are not very good at working in services, yet the range of well paid jobs outside the service industry has been severely eroded over many years.
