We are replacing the incoming lead water main with MDPE, water board has already been and inspected trench and said we can connect our new pipe to the main since a water meter has been fitted recently with a 25mm MDPE 'stub' on the boundary connected to the existing lead pipe.

Basically we will need a straight 25mm-25mm join but which type, compression or push fit? I'm inclined towards push fit as it will be easier to fit and less prone to leaking if not tightened correctly..

Screwfix do what looks like a suitable push fit here:

Push fit will be fine, just ensure the pipe & fitting is clean before you make the joint & inspect the pipe also for big scores, the 'O' ring will not seal on the pipe if it's damaged.
