After a recent yearly inspection I was told that my overflow pipe was unsafe as it was above the flat belows door (although there is a small ledge above the door). Was advised by engineer to get a couple of elbow joints and some copper pipe to move it to the side and then face into the wall.

However, as the pipe will be to the side instead of out the wall, how can I get it to work and face into the wall?

My flat has been sold and I need to get this fixed as there is an 'at risk' sticker on the boiler.

apparently it still shouldn't be above the door though  Thing is it's had two inspections, once when fitted then one further annual one and wasnt mentioned then.

Just hoping they say its ok once I fix it.

It is a sensible requirement but not specifically included in any regulations.

Apart from the general requirement to be able to discharge "safely".
