Cases are low in Africa. Lol.
Cases are low in China as well.
Hmmm....., funny that. I’m sure every death in Africa is recorded & checked correctly.

Most of Africa had shut there borders and embassies, they have only recently re-opened them.

Up until recently the only way you could get in was if you were a key worker and no one else in the country had the skill set.

We deal with African countries for work, and it's been a hard process dealing with them this past 9 months.

Now that they have re-opened air ports there is extremely strict testing policy.

Our guys have to have a covid test 72 hours before they fly out, you have to tell them what hotel your staying in and who you are working for, when you land you have to have another covid test, and then you have to self isolate for 2 weeks, then when you go to leave the country you have to have another covid test to be allowed out.

I've now lost a guy and a ton of specialist tooling for 5 weeks,

The reason they have done this is because they know they cannot deal with the fall out if it got to UK levels of infection

Perhaps they have better social abilities. Who knows?

I hear plumbers have very low infection rates.

It seems to be down to gatherings. Test and trace have been asking what people were doing around the time they were actually infected. Eating out stats are high. Coffee, meal and etc. Say 4 sitting around a small table drinking coffee even out of doors. One aspect that has interested me is shopping. In some areas there can be enough people about to mean that 2m distancing is impossible yet few people wear masks. They do when they enter a shop. ;) What does a breeze to do distancing. Sick sense of humour, 70mph winds recently so does it need to be 140m? I can't help thinking back to China where people wore masks when out of doors full stop. Much later just when indoors other than when people were in the rooms they lived in and outdoors if they wanted to. They appear to have kept transport and other things going via masks. Then many countries regularly spray touch points but hand sanitiser can take care of that. How many do though?

I'll be interested to here what rules they use for Xmas. Same thing is likely to happen again unless things are changed. Income support for people who can't work due to covid infection rates seems to have been extended well into next year. Problem - we have lots and lots of people who work in these sectors.Too many really. Lock downs in areas maybe earlier on than currently might be what they go for. Travel restrictions of some sort might make sense as well. It's travel that spread it around the country in the first place.

It's interesting how the very people who are moaning about Trump not accepting the democratic vote of the people and refusing to move on, are the very same remoaners who are ... not accepting the democratic vote of the people and wont move on. How bizarre.

Trump is carrying on as he is to encourage his voters to support his parties senators and saying anything to encourage that. The aim is to get their senators elected in areas where the vote margins are small. They stand a chance of getting control of the senate this way which would mean that they can block a number of things the new president might want to do. Their senators in these areas are following Trumps lead and saying what ever they like about their competitor. The whole party / supporters are doing the usual things on all media as well. Some new casters are breaking in and ending the talk - even foxnews as many of the comments are beyond belief.

It might work too. Some floating voters in the UK may vote one way or the other in a general election and then vote for the opposition in the council elections to try and temper the actions of parliament. I'd suspect there may be similar in all countries.

https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4130#:~:text=Why is obesity a risk,increase the risk by 90%.

You can work it out from the published stats if you can do some basic algebra.

Not a bad report in parts but BMI has fallen into disrepute in some ways. There is an ideal range often based on height. Pity really well muscled trolls and the tall in some respects. As far as ideal BMI's go based on this nurses have been asked to see if the person looks fat. Our local GP has started collecting waist sizes as well. It's a teaching practice. Conversations about BMI come from chats when I have been sent to take part in various studies. That may be due to my info being on the biobank.

There is a factor in the report though. Fat on internal organs. Men are more likely to accumulate that than women. It gives them greater resistance to the cold and don't I know it. I lost mine a long time ago now and noticed the change also the age related aspect over time. Prior to this a doc's description was covered in a rather thin layer of fat with a decent cholesterol readings, much better than many. Didn't last though. A lot more physical exercise can help with that but it does need to be a lot to burn fat. Aerobic essentially. As with the pre diabetic test readings increase with age. That's an interesting one as well. My wife had a worrying reading. Reason she had eaten a bunch of grapes a week before the test. Something she doesn't do that often. Now we are both borderline and as doc says that could well be down to age. We still do what we can to improve further but it's tricky.
