Hi,

I’ve got a bell box without a control panel and just want to wire it up so the LEDs flash.

I have a 6 volt power AC adapter power supply and will connect it to the bell box.

What wire would you recommend for going from the power supply up to the box?

Thankyou.

It is just the LED’s.
From what I saw they were fed by a 6 volt battery so I thought instead of changing a battery to wire it up to a 6 volt AC adapter instead.

Your first stumbling block

"6 volt battery so I thought instead of changing a battery to wire it up to a 6 volt AC adapter instead."

Batteries supply DC power not AC
Once you have resolved rectifying it any size 2 core would suffice.

Sorry I have not explained myself very well.

I picked up a 6 volt 2 amp power adapter (ac to dc) so assume that is fine to use?

The alarm box is an ADT bell box. It has a siren and all the bits in it but I just need it to flash the LEDS as it is not connected to anything else.

Thankyou.

As stated….you will need a 12v dc psu ….post a picture of what you have ….is it a elmdene or bental internal unit ? Metal box or plastic backplate ?

Winglet, alarm panels and their sounders, alarm boxes etc. All run on 12v DC.

This is why you are being asked about it, because shoving 6v onto it is likely to not work.
The LED's inside the box are likely connected to a PCB, that PCB is likely to require 12v dc to run.

Hi. Sorry for not getting back to you all until now. I appreciate your advice.
This is the alarm box.
I just need the LEDs to flash.

I see there are terminals for battery. I was wondering if I could go into that or is that all 12 volts too?

Thankyou.

Probably your best bet, is to scrap what's in there, and start again. Look on ebay, for a couple of flashing LED's, then find a power supply unit to match them. A cheap option, would be to find 5v flashing LED's, then you could power them from a normal USB PSU.

Thankyou very much for your help.
Il order a 12 volt power supply.
