Can I use standard push fit bits on this old plastic pipe ?

The fittings at the end are marked with hbp but rather than try and remove them simply cut the pipe and add a push fit connection instead.

Is that possible or do I have to use some special sort of fitting on them ?

Thanks!

That looks like and old Hepworth slimline fitting. Cut the fitting off and you should be able to use modern HEP push fit on it.

So I'll cut the grey pipe to the right of the joist. I'm going to join it to another plastic pipe (not on the picture).
One last question, can I use the hep fittings on the new style plastic pipes ? The new pipes look like they are currently connected using JG pushfits.

Ideally you keep the same pipe fitting as the pipe to avoid any issues and puts the guarantee into place. Fittings can be interchanged but it's not ideal but you want to keep the inserts true to the pipe maker.
