Constructing lockers in 6mm Ply - help with construction

Hi, last year I made some small lockers for my pseudo campervan using 6mm mdf - they were fine and looked OK but I'd like to redo them with an updated design and a bit more strength (so Plywood is likely).
The problem is I am no carpenter and the corners were tricky, in the end I used ugly connectors and screws which had to be filled and painted - OK but not great.

I've been thinking about alternatives but despite searching online and B&Q etc I cant find what I am looking for.
Hard to describe so I drew a picture of a profile that I think would work.

Has anyone seen anything like this (aluminium I think would be best for strength and weight reduction) but I'm happy to look at anything.
Happy that the edging is on show as long as it's presentable (again a metal would look good although I guess PVC may be OK too).

Failing that, how do I join thin panel together without adding considerably to the bulk or needing specialist tools ? I've tried searching the forum but nothing obvious springs to mind. Hints on attaching hinges to 6mm board is particularly welcome (I used araldite last time).

A firm called Grant Westfield produce a product called Multi Panel for bathrooms.
They also market a product called Tile Panel, which is basically a laminate 3mm thick.
They also produce the aluminium edge extrusions to suit this 3mm thick product.
I realise you intend to use 6mm ply, but this could be laminated using 2 x 3mm ply panels.
Its worth a look - agents are MKM - the extrusions are excellent quality.
To fix hinges, consider 4mm screws and nuts, cut to length once the hinges are fixed? Just a thought!

There are a few aluminium suppliers though, Marley use them for their cladding but I can't for the life of me remember the manufacturer of the profiles (there are a few): http://www.marleyeternit.co.uk/downloads/Brochures/Pure_Cladding_3.pdf ring their technical helpline and they'll give you a name or two. Alternatively contact some cladding fitters in your area, they'll point you in the right direction.

There's Spa Aluminium in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Bit far out and they are unlikely to supply a small order via post. However if you drop by and pay cash they'll let you have small amounts. Probably worth an enquiry though.
