Continuity Test of Hotpoint Interlock

Sorry to bump this - Washing machine door interlock, the Metalflex M4 type used on WD61, has three prongs, Common, Neutral and Live.
I thought i'd found that mine was faulty, but the fresh one to replace it also gives the same result, i.e. I place one prong of the tester on the Live, then the other prong on the Common, then operate the slider, but it still gives a negative reading, I thought it should give a positive reading?

Advice is urgently sought as I will have to try to get the fresh switch replaced by the supplier.
