Hi all,
I really need some help. I have a rose light fitting which is connected to a fire alarm and the light. I want to remove the old tacky hanging light and convert it to a long light with four bulbs (I don't know the correct name for it). I am having difficulty figuring it out because there are so many wires and only a (L) (N) and (E) exist on the light itself.

I am unsure of what to disconnect and re wire as I am afraid I will blow up if I do it wrong.

can someone take a look at the pics below and advise me on how to go about this seemingly complicated configuration.

p.s the light that I want to replace is is in a small hallway which has two switches on opposite walls. I am unsure if this is a factor or not?

any replies will be greatly appreciated as I have now got wires dangling from my roof and its getting dark :( :( http://media.diynot.com/205000_204279_61658_60440476_thumb.jpg

You need to put all the reds (4?) into another connector block, not connected to anything else.

All the CPCs (earths)(4?) (must be sleeved green and yellow) connect to 'E' in the new light.

The single black (must be sleeved or taped with red to signify it is a live conductor) connects to 'L' in the new light.

The other blacks (3?) connect to 'N' in the new light.

You need a spare piece of terminal block for a start, there's not enough in the new fitting.
Mark up the black on it's own, it ought to have a red sleeve.

Put all the reds into the new piece of block.
The black on its own into L
All the green/yellows into the earth terminal
The other (3?) blacks into N
