Hello again - I've moved onto the kitchen now!

We're having a reshuffle of some of the units and applicances, and realised that by moving the cooker approx. 100mm to the left means the cooker switch is now above the cooker.

Is this legal? If not, does anybody know what the separation distance should be?

Thanks again in advance.

There is no reg as such which stipulates how far the isolator should be away from the hob, however there are several regs which state that accesories should be in suitable locations and take into account the immediate environment.

So what I tend to do is position any switches, sockets or isolators at least 300mm to the side of any hob or sink (I think this comes from the on site guide)

Oh, and no more than 2m away from oven.

The 300mm is a guidance figure from the Electrician's Guide to the Building regs and relates to distance from edge of a sink.
There's no specific distance re hobs but all accessories have to be suitable for the ebvironment so if its hot and steamy next to your hob (it will be) then you have to find a isolation switch that can work in this environment.
Plus you will not want it so clase that you would burn yourself if you have to turn off the hob in the event of a fire.
