Coping with pain

There was, IMO, a very good and highly effective pain relief, Coproxamol (dextropropoxyphene), but it was withdrawn because of fears of overdose by grateful patients.

Typical. Some out there will just abuse these things which affects those who need it for genuine health issues.

Fentanyl is available on NHS in the form of a patch -used to moderate severe stable pain.

I don’t know how bad you have to be to get it.

Although a painkiller 100x stronger than opioids is scary stuff.

Moving and gentle stretching, leading to more moving and gentle stretches with the necessary pain killers to enable it, provided you don't get the red flags.

Few years ago local young girl about 15 died from paracetamol, she only took about ten over the course of a day. Died of liver failure.
Paracetamol has a surprisingly narrow safety margin.

Liver failure is a horrible way to die and a horrible way not to die

Yikes, i wont go near that stuff!! But, i can understand that when in need because of severe pain, anything is worth trying..

An adictive opioid found to be no more effective than paracetamol that can cause depression and heart attacks. Good riddance.

A curved-ball, try Bio-dynamic Craniosacral therapy. Google it.
My wife, a therapist of c. 20yrs (now retired) treated a chap who wasn't able to walk at all, bed-bound. After 4yrs of weekly treatments he was able to walk the 100yds down the street to his son's school. After 8yrs he was able to be driven. Still not able to drive but able to walk upstairs ar least.
It's a long slow process but clearly there's something in it.

I tried that and what worked for me was the awareness of muscle movement.
I became aware of my body status and able to listen to it.
To these days my body tells me to stop something or push forward.
I can isolate tense muscles and force the relaxation process (to a certain extent).
I can also fall asleep on command using a technique the therapist thought me.
It's very helpful, but remember, not a substitute for main therapies.
It's either a last resort or something you try when you are better but not 100%.
In any case, it's something that helps you for the rest of your life.

Have you tried Amitriptyline ?
Originally designed as an anti depressant but also blocks nerve pain.

Works great on my back issues, and I'm a little happier :)
