please can someone tell me what is wrong with my corsa there is a real rubbing/grinding noise when i'm driving i think it might be my brakes can someone tell me if it would be the pads or the discs and could it be front or back if I take it to a garage they may try selling me the works can you help is it back or front and do I need to replace pads and or discs or both? any idea of cost please

Can you jack the car up & spin each wheel in turn.
Does it increase with speed.
 
Usually, front brakes wear faster than rear brakes, because they do a lot more work.
A grinding noise is usually the pad backing material carving lumps out of the disk when the pads are worn out.

Many garages will only fit disks in pairs even if only one is worn out. It keeps the braking forces balanced so the car doesn't suddenly turn sideways on and park itself up a tree if you brake sharply.
