Does anybody know the cost of replacing the external expansion vessel on my HRM Wallstar condensing boiler - keep having to top it up.

Thanks in advance. :D

Is this the vessel that sits on top of the boiler, inside the casing??

Have you tried recharging with air? - it might simply need recharging
(See Sticky recharging an Expansion Vessel)

The cost of a built in vessel will vary depending on the supply chain, but expect it to be somewhere around £120 +Vat I would allow around £80 +Vat for call-out & Labour charges so budget at around £200 + Vat all in ;)

No , its abve the casing seperately on the wall - its a 12 Litre - Zilmet Red Expansion Vessel - seem to only be about £30 + vat.

thanks :D

Boilerman has already given you an idea.

But you still want someone you don't know, to accurately tell how much someone they don't know, is going to charge you for something they can't see.

Simple job on the Wallstar. Half hour to fit. About 40 quid
for vessel.
Expect to pay around £70-80 for whole job. Any more
would be a rip off.

It's not on the Wallstar. From the OP's description it's a separate vessel on the wall indicating a regular Wallstar on a sealed system.

  Got that wrong. seperate vessel should only
be about £60-65 all in :) :)

how do you know it needs replacing? is water coming out of the valve?
next question is, how many rads on your system?
second question how big are they?
third question how any are double panel?

i love friday night.

1. Pressure going slowly down to 0. Have to keep topping up.

2. 13 radiators - 4 large , others small or medium

3. no doubles.

Thanks

there is a valve on top. check if water comes out when you GENTLY poke it.

if its just air then it needs re pressuriing. its water, you need a new EV.

Well now,
i pressed in schraeder valve and only air comes out - so why is pressure dropping?????

Thanks. :?:
