Could Brexit create new manufacturing.

Could Brexit create new manufacturing.

British manufacturing relies on parts from the EU. Could this be an opportunity for these parts now being produced in the UK or sourcing out to lets say India or even Africa. ???

Could do, or the final manufacturing could move offshore to where the components are built. The car industry has generally fallen on the second option as the likely result but they might be a lone example.

After all, sub component manufacturers tend to want to supply multiple assemblers, we don't have that volume of production in the UK.

Yes and no.

Currently it is as easy to order goods from Budapest as Bristol.

Next year it won't and small businesses will probably need a customs handling agent to deal with the Brexit red tape.

But there will also be the same customs issues ordering from India or Africa.

So yes there is likely to be an increase in UK companies buying from UK suppliers.

But also Lots of UK companies will lose EU customers.....as they will look to find new suppliers inside the Single Market.

UK is leading the way in fintech innovation and we will see good growth in digital services, I feel.

I doubt that would suit lets say Worcester:
British made
German company
parts that are shipped from EU.

Junkers supply the main land so no benefit closing Worcester as they have such a big market in the UK

Its already happening, but only in higher value industries. The high minimum wage makes manufacturing only viable if its well automated or high value added manufacture.

Id say in the EU as vis the EU the route could be changed
A lot of stuff is delivered into Rotterdam and distributed around EU from there, so yes some of that may come into Felixstowe instead

Not according to your Brexit economist which Brexit MPs quoted.

In our interest to run down our manufactiring sector.

When the Single Market really opened up trade, it made it hard for UK businesses to compete, but the successful ones invested in technology to improve productivity.

In fact in higher end engineering some UK businesses have been able to compete against the Chinese.

I would like to see far more government investment in technical further education and professional management in this country.

From the point of the EU manufacturers supplying the likes Of Worcester, Nissan and other British manufacturing; they could loose this chain to supply forever, so they will put pressure on their governments to keep the ports moving.

If we're unable to compete with Europe, why the desperate need for a level playing field.

Even lower end engineering has seen work returned to UK from China.

Here is the crack bunch of economists that provided the rubbish analysis which Brexxer MPs lauded.
