Covid 19 report

You never looked once for any reports of this did you?

I am not defending moan which seems to be you and others only angle on this.
But again that link says nothing about the gowns being used or not fit to be used for covid ppe. The problem with them was the government ordered sterile but they weren't sterile so they needlessly burned it. Instead they could have said we will only pay the non sterile price. Again not defending the whole moan and others thing but the government over ordered and then used the non sterile thing to try and get out of paying for it all but the companies had folded.
The over ordering of ppe by the government is all in the report, yes I read it, not the short version for dummies that minion read.
And remember I know some who was on the front line on a covid designated ward. The ppe for covid did not and was not sterilised, it was used once and binned.

Some enterprising volunteers made (3D printed) thousands of face visors. I got some for my local GP surgery and they were used, by some.
- It was found possible to "catch" covid by particles landing on the eyes.
The local hospital were reported as grateful for a batch of paint-spraying masks

But the NHS wouldn't use them officially simply because they were "non approved".

It was a mix of stupidity, corruption, incompetence, pedantry, ignorance, ass-covering....

With substandard PPE yu put your faith in PPE that is not fit for purpose.

Depends on what "fit for purpose" means.

Cutting someone open, breathing into body cavities, rummaging around in offal and hot pipes? Yes, sterile PPE please.

Keeping snot and other body fluids off your uniform and not smearing them over the next patient? Why does the PPE need to be sterile? Why won't clean and unused do?

Ever been in a doctor's surgery, or A&E, and seen a health worker put on gloves from an open dispenser on the wall? Are they sterile?

Maybe in hospitals there are logistics problems in having 2 sets of stores, sterile & non-sterile.

The need depends on the scenarios under discussion.

The confusion that could ensue with two lots of PPE, sterile and not sterile would suggest to me that an accident of confusion can be avoided by simply having one set, i.e. sterile PPE.
Although a simple fix of having different colours of non-sterile to sterile PPE should help to avoid confusion.

But in the obvious scenarios of highly contagious infections, they need their own set of rules.

It's written on the flippin sealed individual item packaging -says STERILE.
Non sterile comes in boxes with 100s of the same items in there like the gloves masks and over the head gowns (aprons) you cannot mistake one for another.
