Cracks in mortar above patio door

If so then the brickwork may have dropped just after or even during this work and is in fact supported.

Perhaps just re-point and see what happens. Hopefully nothing further.
So I should get someone in to do the repointing and hope there are no more cracks?.

I have only been able to check one neighbour and they have same lintel but no crack

If it cracked after construction, was later repointed, yet it has since cracked again - it suggests ongoing movement, and if pointed again, may well crack again...

Might it be better to fit one of those crack movement gauges over the crack, and precisely measure what is going on?

Someone quoted me £360 put heli bars and then repoint

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I would suggest it might prove to be a bad plan, without proper investigation first....

As I originally pointed out, the cracks suggest to me, that whatever is supporting the right-hand end of that lintel, appears to have dropped for some reason. That reason needs to be determined before any repair is attempted. Heli bars, may just fix the issue temporarily, but long term, if the support continues to drop, then the cracks will reappear somewhere higher in the brickwork.

I think we've established that it looks like it's probably had a new lintel or at least some rebuilding work at some point, which was likely to have been the (temporary) cause of the movement.

There's definitely a cavity lintel there.

So there's a good chance that knitting it back together and re-pointing could be the end of it. If not then onto the next option which, if you're not DIYing, will have another digit in the price.
