We have a Creda TSR storage heater in the living room and last winter it stopped working! I opened it up last month and found that the 'thermal link' which I think acts as a fuse had seperated/blown. Bought a new thermal link and fitted it last week, came downstairs the next morning hoping to feel some well needed warmth and it was still cold. When I opened it up the brand new one had blown also!! I wonder what is causing this? The heater is about 12 years old and has always ran fine until last winter.

Assuming you had *some* heat the next day,
The thermostat has gone squit. The thermal cutout therfore melts at it's pre-set temperature because the thermostat is no longer regulating the elements.

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to order a new input thermo from Applied Energy, hopefully it might do the trick. I'll report back once i've fitted and tried it as it's nice to see these threads like this closed resolved.
