Has anyone here done theirs?

I've just been informed today that I will be taking the exam on Thursday morning :shock:

Is it just a case of using common sense, or do I need to start doing some serious reading between now and then?

Any help / advice would be massively appreciated :)

common sense on the whole, but some questions are related to things like what are the different colour fire extinguishers used for eg foam, water etc, some questions are repeated but worded differently

done two now and passed both times without any revision

you'll be fine

i hate tests, specaily that one, i was put off by the silence and all the clicking (25 of us taking it at the same time) I flunked it.
I asked could i do it on my own, with an adjudicator, passed it then, and no cheating.

good luck

oh and the one about the drill not working, i nearly P****d my pants lauging at "shake it about a bit"

:shock: I thought the colour system had been done away with some time back, has it been reinstated?

i was at a funeral the day i took mine, had six pints and got every question right, mainly common sense but like what someone else said revise and remember your colours.....

oh its optional just as well all the ones at work are red and you have to read what the contents are :roll:

When I did mine, I had a copy of the DVD revision disk, and while I read out the questions my 12 year old gave me the answers. She would have passed

The questions are so simple, that if you do fail then you have some issues

One example comes to mind, something like....

"While hanging a door, the fire alarm goes off. Do you...."

a. Stay and finish your job.
b. Look for a supervisor and tell him you heard an alarm.
c. Collect all your tools and make sure the area is safe.
d. Proceed promtly to the designated assembly point

Fire extinguishers are all red these days.Its the labels that differ colour wise:-

Cream = foam
Red= water
Black = CO2
Blue= Powder (ammonium phosphate)

Just in case you get asked :wink:

IMO the colour schemes on fire extinguishers has taken a backwards step.

Now people have to look even harder to figure out which extinguisher does what, and if they cannot read (english) then they could be stuffed (just after the roasting :D ).

Still, it makes for lots of freebie returned ones (at work) when they have been replaced :D

Hello RF,

Just a note to say that I only had my 'pass' certificate (ECS), and this was fine up until my last 'site', where they would not accept the cert along with my passport. They informed me that they had been in touch with the JIB, and came to the conclusion that unless the certificate was under six months old, a 'card' was needed for me to remain on site. :roll: .

I am sure that you will pass, but the best of luck anyway.
All the best,

Ed
