Cutting a mortise on a drill press

Are there clever mortise chisels for use in a drill press? I don't want to have to buy a mortising machine for the amount of mortising I intend to do.

Yes but you need a decent distance between the chuck and the table as the fitting is quite long, it also puts quite a strain on the quill rack & pinion which are not usually as strong as a morticer.

MAchine Mart do one to fit their Clarke drill presses and I think Rutlands do one as well.

I don't think they are even that good maybe thats why they are selling them so cheap, attatchment and 4 chisels fot £19.99 even less if you wait for one of their vat free days.


Best way to bu**er your drill press, trying to push a 16mm chisel into hardwood

£19.99? I spend more than that for a single mortise chisel - ah well, at least mine stay sharp and cut properly

I bought one of those attachments, an hour or so later I put it in the bin and bought a mortiser!
