Had an incident a few weeks ago whilst driving. Afterwards I uploaded the camera footage to the police website. Was on the point of giving up and thinking they were going to get away with it when I received this in my email. Now a happy bunny they are reacting.

Thank you for your Dash Cam footage. The footage you have sent in has been reviewed and the decision has been made by an officer to deal with this by a Notification of Intended Prosecution.

Kind regards,

The police will ask if you are willing to attend as key witness if the alleged offender challenges the case. But hopefully if the video is damming, they should plead guilty.

No footage attached as it is to be used in evidence and posting on any 'social media' sites would prevent the case going ahead on the grounds evidence had been put in the public domain.
When you fill out the report you are asked would you be willing to attend court if asked to do so. It states if you are not then the case would probably not be investigated any further unless it was very serious.
The dashcam footage is very clear and damning with full vehicles details of the offender and vehicle details of two other witnesses who were also put in a very dangerous position. Don't think I will be asked to attend but if I am then I will.

"Good on yer", as they say 'round ere.

If only more motorists would realise that there is always a camera pointed at them somewhere.

Worth knowing.(y)

As neither you nor the case is identified, can you tell us what sort of thing it was?

Briefly, (and I'm sure it happens quite a lot), a vehicle on the outside lane moved inside, undertook a number of vehicles it had been travelling behind and then squeezed between my vehicle and a vehicle in the outside lane who was just about to legally overtake me. The offending vehicle was obviously going much faster than the regulated speed limit and was inches away from mine as the driver swung out. I actually veered to the left when I saw how fast he was approaching because I was thinking he was going to ram into me.

Sounds like someone got het up over an empty lane 1.

Continentals find it odd that Brits stay in mid/right-side lanes as much as we do.
I heard somewhere that undertaking by itself isn't illegal. But some people.....

Well, the "dangerous driver" was the only one respecting the highway code.
You must travel on the first empty lane, not sitting in a line on the outside lane when inside lane is empty.
I was once stopped by 2 mugs of police officers because i was on a bus lane at 3:45pm and the restriction starts at 4pm.
All other drivers, including the cops, were stuck in traffic on the outside lane.
You won't believe the rubbish they came up with to justify their stop.
In the end the best they could say was that I should be careful because with age reflexes become slower.
They dropped their attitude as soon as I told them I had a dashcam also recording audio.
You need to understand that driving fast is not dangerous, but not paying attention or not caring for other road users is.

So this is what we have become as a society. We do the Police's job for them, and go around with our cameras happily snapping all things that offend us and all other's presumed transgressions are uploaded for "justice".

Just like the Twitter and FB mob, when they don't like a word you wrote and they are inclined to report you to the po-po.

A nation of snitchers, and a Police force that can't be bothered to do any Policing .... but you can upload your clips for review. :cautious:

Whilst I don't completely disagree with you, the police can't be everywhere and, often, a picture speaks a thousand words and all that. Might also help speed up cases where something is being disputed.
