Data cable suitable for wiring doorbell?

    Hi all,

    I have loads of solid core data netwoking cable.

    Is this suitable for use for wiring a doorbell?

    Yeah should be fine for a 12v doorbell system. I would use a pair as a single conductor though.

    For reference/reassurance remember that conventional analogue phones use a 50V signal, and 802.3af "Power over Ethernet" can be up to 57V, so clearly standard data cable is considered good for that voltage.
