Decking newbie

So after 8 years of struggling with leather jackets, I'm now fed and thinking of decking it.

The area is about 16sqm and everything I've been reading online, it seems you can just put membrane down then lay the joists straight onto the ground?

I was expecting to have to cement posts into the ground then screw the joists onto them?

Nematodes sorted out my leatherjackets years ago.

Yep I put them down every year and I've even taken to netting it every September to prevent them hatching.

The problem is it's surrounded by a high wall one side, garage wall on the other and high fence panels so the sun doesn't really get in there
