Diesel and Petrol prices

In scenarios such as this (significantly increasing prices) I'd love to know how much of it, from the businesses implementing the increase, is actually required and how much of it is simply taking the business opportunity to do so.

There have been accusations of profiteering for this but I've not seen any substance behind these.

However, rises every day at least do appear to me that some of the fuel outlets may be making a few quid.

Though fuel duty has gone up over the last 20 years or so, the price per barrel has been here before therefore IMO
someone is making a killing,

The oil price has been lower past few days.
Another fact as I posted, oil price was higher than this years ago and prices at the pumps was much lower.
So on the whole its taxes inc green taxes
 
As I posted a bit earlier the price of oil went down on certain days last week

However, stories like this IMO will get people topping up their cars and I'm talking about those that don't. We alway fill our cars to the top
as we dislike visits to petrol stations but others may read stories like the link below and start doing it.

In the back of my mind is fuel thieves with the prices where they are as they leave behind massive damage, fire risk ad the car owner without a car and costs.

During the petrol crisis in the year 2000 when everyone was panic buying petrol, I joined the queue of cars at my local petrol station and was sat there for two hours, and I only wanted a mars bar and a paper.

That was showing support for your local outlet I guess.
We avoided the recent queues when there was a lack of delivery drivers filled up our cars the day before it really took off and then rationed use of our cars and we managed to miss the long waiting times.
 
I think it was dry humour.

You wouldn't need to queue for stuff from the shop.

beware of how prices fluctuate - my local Esso were 179 I paid 168
