Diesel engine will not stop.

Peugeot 205 Diesel engine will not stop after turning the ignition off and removing the key, the engine runs for ever. The only way to stop the engine is to stall it.

Is it a turbo?
Some of them have a "run on" feature to allow the turbo pressure to get down before turning off, but this only usually happens if you start the car to move it forward or something and then shut it off.

If non-turbo, then i guess it's the fuel shut off solenoid on the injector pump which is causing problems. They're not that expensive and fairly easy to change

Neo, Thanks for your help its a non Turbo so I will change the solenoid as suggested.

Unplug it with the engine running and you'll see if thats the problem. If the engine runs on, then change the solenoid, if it doesn't then you have some electrical gremlins causing problems (possibly ignition switch)
